Abstract guidelines

All abstracts must be submitted in docx or rtf format to

The author must indicate his/her preference in presenting that particular contribution in Oral or Poster form.   The abstract of all contributions will be included in the Joint Meeting’s Proceedings.

The presenting author must be a registered participant.

Abstract must be typed in English, using single-space, 12 point size, font Times New Roman, and should not exceed 350 words including foot notes if any. The body of the abstract should be arranged into a single document, without separation in sections or subheadings.

Title should be bold, and should contain the order and family of the taxon, except when not applicable.  Avoid abbreviations in the title.

Author’s first name and last surname should be written in full, others should be abbreviated. Authors’ names must be separated by comma, except the last, separated by commercial “and” (&). Sequential numbering in superscript should be used for institutional affiliations. The institutional affiliation of the first author must be followed by the e-mail for contact.

Up to five keywords separated by a comma might be included.

Spelling of scientific names must be in accordance with the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. Genus-group and species-group names must be accompanied by author and year. Do not cite names of taxa not formally described.

Abstracts will be considered: 1. Accepted, 2. Accepted with modifications or 3. Rejected. A single modification is allowed in the original version. Abstracts outside from these instructions may not be evaluated.

Abstract sample

All submitted contributions will be peer reviewed by the Scientific Committee on the basis of relevance, originality, quality of presentation, and technical quality. The authors of all accepted contributions may be asked to moderate their papers following reviewers’ comments. At this point, the Scientific Committee may recommend a candidate Oral contribution to be presented as a Poster.

Attendees opting for oral or poster presentation will be given the opportunity to publish it as a full paper in a special issue of the journal Zoosymposia or Zoologia. Manuscripts entering this option will follow normal peer review process.
